Plaza Rental Information & Specs

*We are happy discuss discounts on the rental fees for not-for-profit organizations [with proof of 501(c)3 status].

Rental Includes:

  • Use of plaza and plaza restrooms
  • Use of Cal Shakes parking lot

Additional Services Available:

  • Additional House Staff $60 per performance or $15 per hour
  • Additional Box Office Staff $60 per performance or $15 per hour
  • Additional Facilities Staff $100 per performance or $25 per hour
  • Additional Site Visits $50 per hour
  • Shuttle $250 for 5 hours; $500 for 8 hours; $50 per hour for every additional hour
  • Security Guard $40 per hour per guard
  • Day Porter $35 per hour
  • Green Chairs $25 per 12 chairs
  • Water Coolers $25 each w/out water
    $40 each with water
  • Blankets incl. 1 staff person $500
  • 6’ Folding Tables $25 each
  • Grove Sound System $150


  • Insurance – $1 million dollar policy. Cal Shakes can provide information on a vendor to provide this.
  • ABC License – If you or your catering plans on selling alcohol then you must get your own 1 day ABC permit from Contra Costa County.
  • Renter shall have a Contact / Event Supervisor and Production Manager / Technical Manager
  • As expected – the grounds are for our ‘sole and exclusive use’. There is no provision in the lease for us to sub-lease or have ‘tenants’ that can also do performances. We will need a waiver.
  • Sound – Cannot exceed 90 decibels in the last row. Cannot exceed 15 minutes of a performance continuously nor exceed a total of 30 minutes during any performance.
  • There is a curfew on when the public can be on the grounds between midnight and 7am.
  • Return of the grounds, house and buildings to their original state. This includes stacking chairs used in the House, collecting trash/recycling and depositing it the dumpsters.

Miscellaneous Charges:
