Don Quixote rides again! After a hugely successful run here at the Bruns in 2018, playwright Octavio Solis and director KJ Sanchez reunited with original cast members Emilio Delgado (Quixote), Hugo Carbajal (Papa Calaca), Juan Amador (Sancho Panza), and Gianna DiGregorio Rivera (Antonia) for a three-theater co-production. Perhaps you’ll come across Quixote and Sancho again on your own journeys?
Hartford Stage in Connecticut launched their season with Quixote Nuevo this fall, to excellent reviews! Next, the production moves to Boston’s Huntington Theater Company, playing in November and December. Finally, the Knight of the Pitiful Sight will return home to Texas at Houston’s Alley Theater. We wish them the best on their quest!
Quixote Nuevo was a part of Cal Shakes’ New Classics Initiative, which reimagines timeless dramas from across cultures, expanding our classical canon and, by extension, broadening our understanding of who we are. All donations to the New Classics Initiative will be doubled with a $30,000 match by the Mellon Foundation!
