1: A friend of our family introduced me to the performing arts as a teenager. I’m so grateful to this friend who kindly shared tickets to SF symphony and opera performances. Subsequently, I got introduced to outdoor performances on the Peninsula, in Napa and at Stern Grove in San Francisco.
2: The outdoor aspect of performances is engaging and freeing. That’s something to love, as is the size of the Bruns (not too big). It makes you feel like you are IN the play. I am proud To Be because of the productions presented each year.
3: Theatre confronts. Confrontation is not always comfortable but it initiates conversations. That is good.
4: The outdoor setting provides challenges … all of which adds to the experience. The aspect of intentionally sharing theater with members of the community who might not normally attend is impactful.
5: Meet and mingle in the woods surrounding the Brun is a favorite activity. It creates a nice opportunity to talk about the Cal Shakes productions!
