Scenic construction is a unique combination of art and construction. By the end of the course, students should have the skills and knowledge to pursue entry level employment in scenic construction and have a foundation to pursue other trades, including construction, drafting, machining, welding, finish carpentry, and painting to name a few.
To apply, email your resume and cover letter to scenic@calshakes.org (with “WFD Application” in the subject).
Applications will be accepted through June 3, 2024. First review of applications will begin on May 20, 2024.
This opportunity is designed as a path into the industry. No previous experience is required. California Shakespeare Theater strives for an inclusive work environment and works to actively embrace a diversity of people, ideas, talents, and experiences. We highly encourage people of color, individuals with disabilities, and other historically underrepresented groups in our community to apply.
At Cal Shakes, we believe that equity is a practice. Our actions—both onstage and off—can have a positive social impact by exposing oppression, addressing historic injustices, and showing how power can be transformed and shared in different ways. We work to dismantle systemic bias by actively including, reflecting, and creating opportunities for our diverse Bay Area communities. We recognize that this work is ongoing and often imperfect, but we are committed to facilitating respect for the many facets of the human experience.
