ACCESSIBILITY

We work to make the Bruns Amphitheater as accessible as possible to patrons with disabilities. Please call the Box Office to discuss ways that we can make your experience comfortable and safe. If there’s something we’re not providing that you need, don’t hesitate to ask and we’ll do our best to accommodate you.

PARKING

There is plenty of parking in our Bruns Theater parking lot. Parking is free in the perpendicular spots on the right or in the unpaved lot on the left.

TAKE A STROLL

Take a winding walking path through the trees and peek-a-boo views of the Orinda Hills up to our Bruns Amphitheater.

SHUTTLE

Grab our free shuttle (equipped with wheelchair lift)! Pick it up in front of the main Orinda BART entrance 2 hours prior to performance time and loops approximately every 20 minutes.

GOLF CART

Need a lift? Take a golf cart ride up the hill to our theater. Runs before and after the show.

BRUNS PLAZA

Paved and accessible with a cafe, bar, and restrooms nearby. Sit at our community table and meet some new people.

ASSITIVE LISTENING

FREE for use, first-come, first-served. Grab a blanket or two if you need one.

The Bruns Amphitheater and grounds are situated at the top of a steep hill, in outdoor terrain. There are many ways to reach the amphitheater including:

  • Shuttle
  • Golf Cart
  • Drive-up/Drop off or Pick Up
  • Walking

Our lobby plaza, café, and bar have flat, paved surfaces; the grounds also have an accessible switchback path running from the lobby to the top of the amphitheater, to reach seats in the Terrace section.

Most of our seats are pre-placed plastic outdoor chairs with arms. In the Terrace, they are low-to-the-ground beach chairs. None of our seats are bolted in: they are tied together for fire safety but generally moveable.

There are accessible restrooms located in the Sharon Simpson Center, in the middle of our Theater grounds.

While pets are not allowed on the grounds or in the Amphitheater, we are happy to allow service animals at the Theater. Please notify the Box Office when booking your tickets if you require room for your service animal.

Assistive-listening devices for the hearing impaired are available on a first-come, first-served basis from the blanket kiosk near the entrance to the amphitheater at no charge.

Cal Shakes offers open-captioned performances during each run of the production.  We are still confirming the dates for The Winter’s Tale—please email boxoffice@calshakes.org.

We are continuously improving our accessibility at the Bruns. At this time, we are unable to provide ASL interpretation, audio-described performances, or large-print programs—but we would love to do so very soon! If you have suggestions for ways we can make your experience better, please let us know.
