World Premiere
Quixote Nuevo

by Octavio Solis
adapted from Don Quixote by Miguel de Cervantes
directed by KJ Sanchez

June 13-July 7

Be the hero of
your own story.

“Octovio Solis strikes a beautiful balance in writing from his head and his heart” Bill Rauch, Oregon Shakespeare Festival

Celebrated Latino playwright Octavio Solis takes us on a journey to the fictional modern-day border town of La Plancha, Texas, where Don Quixote (Sesame Street's Emilio Delgado) loses himself in stories of chivalrous escapades and embarks on a quest of imagination, adventure, and Tejano music. Casting himself as a larger-than-life knight-errant, he recruits a hapless but trusty sidekick in his search for lost love. As the community wrestles with containing Quixote’s fantasies, his family and friends discover the joys and perils of being the hero of your own story.

Quixote Nuevo runs 2 hours, 30 minutes, with one 15-minute intermission. This production contains strobe lighting, bilingual profanity, and the presence of a prop semi-automatic firearm (without gunshot sound cues).
