A Midsummer Night's Dream

SEPTEMBER 3–28

Like she did with last year’s inventive Romeo & Juliet, Shana Cooper will take apart another of Shakespeare’s iconic works, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, putting it back together again in a way that’s sure to open your eyes and jump-start your heart.

A Midsummer Night's Dream runs approximately two hours and twenty minutes, including one fifteen-minute intermission.

PRESS

“It’s got the laughs, the sparks and the moves you only find in the most memorable of dreams.” —Chad Jones, Theaterdogs

“As staged by Cooper and choreographer Erika Chong Shuch, this is a "Dream" that roars into high gear as soon as it starts and rarely slows down. When these characters sleep, they're rolling about the stage.” —Robert Hurwitt, San Francisco Chronicle

“Oh, the tedious minutes I have spent pining for thoughtful, insightful and well-crafted Shakespeare in the Bay Area. And there it lay in the liberties, in a magical forest just east of the Caldecott Tunnel.” —Louise Adams, Edge SF

“Shana Cooper's strange and beautiful production is shot through with surreal images, evocative moments and keen insights into the volatile nature of love…. this staging upends our expectations.” —San Jose Mercury News
