Clive WorsleyDear Friends,

It is with great excitement that we announce our 2015 Summer Shakespeare Conservatories. Combining our passion for theatrical and personal exploration with our commitment to the highest quality training and production, we look forward to another wonderful summer of nurturing the creative spirits of our young people while having fun, deepening our skills as actors, and creating meaningful connections.

With Four- and Two-Week options in both Orinda and Oakland/Piedmont to choose from, we try to offer schedules that fit with as many families’ busy summers as is possible.

We hope you will join us for a terrific summer with the best teachers, directors, and student actors in the Bay Area!

See you this summer,

Director of Artistic Learning

"My son LOVED the conservatory. He is already talking about going back and can't wait. He made friends, gained self-confidence, discovered a passion for theater. I could not be happier with the outcome.” —2014 Conservatory parent.

"We like that many students return again, and again, and deepen their knowledge, collaborative skills, and their connection with their fellow thespians."
—Five-Week Conservatory parent.

"My favorite part of Conservatory is the people. The campers and teachers are like one giant family." –Five-Week Conservatory student.

Cal Shakes’ Summer Shakespeare Conservatory for ages 8-18 offers a theater experience rooted in the same passion for artistic exploration and excellence that guides our award-winning Main Stage productions. We foster self-expression and artistic discipline to engage students in the theater-making process: In the dynamic study and physical experience of developing some of literature’s greatest characters, our students also develop their own.

Participants spend the morning playing and creating in a wide variety of theater disciplines, taught by working theater professionals.

Afternoons are spent in rehearsals. The experience culminates in Shakespeare performances for family and friends at the end of the program.
