The Master Carpenter is a full-time, seasonal/exempt position in the Scenic Production Department for the California Shakespeare Theater’s Main Stage productions. The Master Carpenter reports to the Assistant Technical Director as well as the Technical Director. The Master Carpenter implements scenic deign projects as designed by the Scenic Designer while communicating with the Assistant Technical Director and Technical Director. Specific responsibilities may include but are not limited to: carpentry, welding, painting, rigging, truck loading, working with raw wood, plywood, plastics, metals, foam, fasteners, glues, fabrics and a variety specialized materials. The Costume Cutter/Draper is a Full Time Seasonal/exempt position in the Production department, reporting to the Costume Director. The Cutter/Draper implements the costume patterns; and supervises the construction, fitting, and altering of specific costumes as designed by the Costume Designer. Week-night House Manager
The week-night House Manager is responsible for the efficient operation of all front-of-house activities and the comfort and safety of audiences at our 545-seat outdoor venue. The week-night House Manager is responsible for the efficient staffing and operation of front-of-house operations for the Main Stage season and Student Matinee performances. This position assigns and directs the work of the Assistant House Manager, House Associates, and volunteer ushers and raffle sellers during performances on Tuesday-Thursday evenings. Cal Shakes is seeking assistant directors for our 2015 Season.
Assistant directorships are hands-on training opportunities combining the chance to observe the rehearsal process from start to finish with assisting duties determined by each director.
ADs are expected to be present throughout our full-time rehearsal process, tech, and Previews.
Candidates generally have completed or are near to completing an undergraduate theater program and have at least one directing credit.

Costume Conservatory Fellow
The Costume Conservatory Fellow is part of the Artistic Learning division’s Summer Conservatories, and works with the Conservatory Directors and Administrators to create the student performance series. The Candidate will be introduced to the preliminary costuming process and participates in production meetings, pulling, and fittings for all Summer Conservatories; and also gets hands-on experience with some stitching, alterations, and craft work.
