The Technical Director (TD) is a Full-Time/exempt position in the Production department, reporting to the Production Manager (PM). The TD is charged primarily with directing the activities of the scene shop in support of the Theater’s Main Stage season. The TD is also expected to work closely with all other production concerns, especially Props, Paint, and Electrics, providing technical expertise when needed. For every gathering there is a host, and for every performance at Cal Shakes that host is our House Manager. This is a part-time, seasonal position requiring 20–35 hours per week, April–October. The House Manager is responsible for the efficient operation of all front-of-house activities and the comfort and safety of audiences at our 545-seat outdoor venue which includes welcoming our patrons to the Bruns and ensuring that they have a safe, relaxed, and pleasant experience before, during, and after the performance. The House Manager is also the person patrons turn to for assistance, help or advice, answering questions, listening to patrons' compliments and concerns, helps make patrons feel welcome and provides a direct line back to the theatre administration about patron opinions and concerns. California Shakespeare Theater is looking for a Facilities Technician to join our staff. The position is responsible for the weekend upkeep and maintenance of our stunning outdoor amphitheater, recently constructed support buildings, and renovated grounds. The ideal applicant will have a love for the outdoors; a passion for eco-friendly infrastructure; and be able to effectively maintain the complex needs of our space. You should have two or more years of facilities experience, ideally with a theater background.
